سماء من رماد
The author
Ali Abu Nada · علي أبو ندى
Ali Abu Nada is the author of this book. Born in Germany, he grew up in Gaza — in northern Rimal, the neighbourhood of the Palestine Mosque. His family’s roots lie in the village of Dumra, from which they were driven into the Gaza Strip in the Nakba of 1948. He is one of four brothers: Ali, Omar, Yousef and Mohammed.
He finished school in Gaza with top marks, among the best in the country, and went on to study medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza — following in the footsteps of his father, a vascular surgeon who serves in Gaza to this day.
He lived through the first thirty-three days of the annihilation, from October 7, 2023 until the forced departure through the Rafah crossing — and documented them in sound and image. Today he lives in Marburg, Germany, where this book was written: a testimony for his family, his city, and those who are still there.
